Ertech, a leading civil and electrical construction company, has experienced remarkable improvements since adopting Trimble Stratus.
Powered by Propeller, Trimble Stratus is a highly accurate aerial surveying platform that enables rapid access to survey data, allowing the comparison of design versus construction without the need for other specialised software.
Ertech has benefited from the platform’s efficient measurement features, which have streamlined the calculation of distance, area, and volume. The cross-section comparison allows the team to understand instantly how much cut or fill is required from the current surface and how deep the drainage line is.
The improved efficiencies in measurement have been especially beneficial for Ertech’s projects. For instance, on a recent bulk earthworks contract, where nearly 3 million m³ were moved and tracked, only one surveyor was needed on site. This not only saved the team in labour, as traditionally the job would have required 3 surveyors, but also improved safety with the reduction in people-to-plant interactions.
The Ertech team has shared that Trimble Stratus has been excellent for determining how the current surface or assets align with the final design, as well as identifying potential conflicts with project boundaries and surrounding assets. Extracts or snapshots are easily shared, allowing valuable information to be quickly communicated with stakeholders when needed.
One feature the team has particularly enjoyed is the mark-up tool, which enables sections of the site to be annotated and sent with notes to pinpoint specific locations or issues. They also praised the Propeller mobile app, which allows a better understanding of the location of various elements such as drainage, boundary, lane line, kerb or any other features without any survey set out.
Overall, the Ertech team found that Trimble Stratus has significantly improved their workflow and project productivity. They also expressed appreciation for the ongoing support provided by both SITECH WA and Propeller.
